One highlight of this semester is learning about tons of different art. I thought that we would only work a specific type of art. But we learned about many things and I thought that was really cool and I liked it a lot. Going into depth about all these things is really helpful to see which type of art we enjoy and see if we want to take another art class. It impacted my learning because knowing what types of art you enjoy doing can lead you to pursue doing that type of art for a living if thats what you really want to do. Another highlight is learning about types of drawing. This was a highlight to me because I didn't know any types of drawing. It was impacting to my learning because I don't think many people know there are different ways to draw. Knowing this is important and helpful so when you are looking at drawings you can identify those techniques.
Taking this class has really changed the way I think about art a lot because now I have more of an understanding about different things, drawing, pottery, values in artwork, etc. It really makes me look at art in a different way, I think about what I learned in this class when I see different pieces of artwork, values and colors, all the different schemes that artists use to enhance their art. Another way it makes me think differently is now when I look at drawing I pay attention to the different techniques that the artists use. I never knew the different techniques that artists use, cross hatching, controlled scribbling. How they make different shapes look a certain way and how certain techniques are good for shadowing, highlighting, and making objects look round. I definitely appreciate art more because I know how the artist feel about creating different pieces of art because I had a chance to create different types of art myself.
This is the project that I am most proud of (Oaxacan Animal Bowl). I feel this way because I am happy about the result of the bowl and the creating of it. I thought working with clay was very interesting because I had never worked with it before. Also I'm proud of the way I painted it, I think the paint colors really go with each other and look cool. This project impacted my learning because now I have a better understanding about clay and really enjoy working with it. I also learned about the process of clay, firing etc.

Purpose:The purpose of this project was to look closely at the work of Winslow Homer so that I could better understand who he is as an artist as well as learn how to describe, interpret, and evaluate works of art. In response to looking at Homer’s work, I created a relief sculpture that is inspired by his work and concepts.
Artists Studied: Winslow Homer
The place I chose for my box is in Key West, Florida.My connection to this place is that it is my first time being here and it was a good experience being there and away from Maine and school. I've included myself sitting at a table at a restaurant that we went to in Key West. The object that I included is an umbrella and it's relatable because at the tables there where lots of umbrellas and I remember them being really bright colors and really cool. I liked it a lot and thought it would be interesting to include that in my box.

- To create a still-life drawing that demonstrates understanding of angles & ellipses in perspective, along with using a variety of mark-making techniques to describe form;
- To understand value by creating a good range of values between black & white to help make the objects appear 3D;
- To demonstrate quality craftsmanship and good composition skills in a drawing.
Artists Studied during this assignment: Henry Moore, John Whalley, Giorgio Morandi & Vincent van Gogh
I can’t remember which artist did which technique but I did cross hatching, curved lines, and the controlled scribbling. I mainly used the curved lines and cross hatching. I thought those techniques where easiest to apply and worked best.
I’ve learned different techniques with shaping things differently. I also learned a lot about the shading. I knew I wasn’t very good at that but now i’m fairly comfortable with it. Recreating the artists drawings help a lot as well because it was an easy thing to do and it showed me it is simple to easily make different markings and how that style helps in certain areas.
